Well, let’s be honest with ourselves – 2020 was a complete shitshow, wasn’t it? We probably could have done with this whole blog post back then. But – we’re in 2021 now and my focus for this month is creating positivity.
So, how do you possibly stay positive when it seems like every single thing is going wrong?
Well, let’s take a look…
Allow yourself to feel all the feelings
First things first, no one is 100% positive ALL of the time. It’s just not feasible. We’re all humans and us humans have emotions. Putting a brave face on those emotions is not healthy.

Instead, allow yourself to feel all the feelings. Rant to your bestie over a cuppa or write down a list of everything you’ve been thinking about. Just make sure you get those emotions out so you’re not sitting with them all the time.
Positivity does not equal brushing over things to make everything seem okay. Positivity is allowing yourself to experience all the rage, confusion and frustration, and then picking yourself back up to face another day.
Get into a growth mindset
A growth mindset sees any failure as an opportunity to learn.
If you’re stuck in a fixed mindset, you’ll end up thinking all the bad things are just happening to you and feeling as though you have no control over what’s going on in your life.
The truth is you do have control over how you feel, how you react and your own behaviour.

So when it feels like nothing is going right and life is just one disappointment after another, remember to feel all those rubbish feelings and then think about what you can learn from the situation. How can you grow? This is your path – how are you going to use this experience to better your life?
I’m a strong believer that everything happens for a reason and if you are too, remember that something better is waiting for you.
Use affirmations every day
Affirmations have helped me & my clients a lot and I would recommend using them to get yourself on a more positive path.
The way you talk to yourself has a big impact and if you speak to yourself negatively, this will only keep you in a negative mindset. Using affirmations can help you flip that around.

Think of some things you would like to believe about yourself. For example, instead of telling yourself, ‘I’m so bad at my job’, try ‘I am always trying my best’.

Get into a good self-care routine
Are you taking some time out of your day to look after YOU? Even if it’s just five minutes to sit in silence with a cuppa before bed?
If not, it’s time to start building one, my love.
My morning routine currently consists of:
- Affirmations
- 10 minute Calm Meditation
- Checking my Moody app
- Journaling
- Checking my finances
It takes me about 20 minutes and for me, it’s the perfect way to start the day.

In the evening, I:
- Do a shorter meditation
- Journal about my day
- Read
- Pray
Even if you don’t have time to do all of these things, just taking 10 minutes out a day to focus on you makes such a difference.
Build a strong support network
The people around you have such a big influence on your life.
If you’re surrounded by people who see the worst in everything and who bring you down with their negativity, you can end up getting wrapped up in their drama.

Surrounding yourself with good people who are honest and open is much better. They’ll help you to stay afloat when nothing is going right.
Make sure you have a mixture of people around you to get advice from different perspectives and experiences.
Start making changes
Your life changes when you decide to change it.
If something is continually going wrong, ask yourself if it’s the right thing for you. Is there a better option out there for you?
Taking action is the only way you can start changing your life.
What will you do?
